  • I live on an island in Maine.  I can leave from my house in my sea kayak and circumnavigate Cousins and neighboring Little John Island. Late one afternoon, in the early fall, I was paddling between the two islands as the sun was beginning to set. The lovely autumn light reflected on to the granite rock wall that anchored Little John to the sea. I was mesmerized by the colors I saw. Little John Light is my interpretation of that magical day.

Little John Light

I live on an island in Maine. I can actually get into my sea kayak on the shore in front of my house. One afternoon in the early fall, I set out to circumnavigate  Cousins and Little John Island.  As I headed through the passage between the two islands, the sun began to set.  That beautiful fall light hit the granite rocks that anchor our island to the sea, an extraordinary flash of colors flashed upon the rocks.  This is the inspiration for my painting Little John Light.
