Sunrise Over Portland - Original was a acrylic on canvas and was created as a 3 part triptych. However, as many people loved the image but did not respond to the triptych format, I had Hunter Editions in Kennebunk Maine, scan the painting and seem it back together as as single piece. I was stunned that they were able to put it back together without any sign of the three part section. I painted this from a photo that my husband took one early morning from the Peaks Island Ferry. As we headed back to Portland Harbor the sun was coming up and shining its rose colored light on all the historical buildings along the East Side of Portland. The Portland Observatory and all the class 19th century warehouses create the welcoming waterfront landscape. Today, lots of cruise ships come into Portland and this is their very first view.
