The Ties That Bind

I had always wanted to paint something really large. One of the art supplies stores in our area was closing and they had a huge sale on their large canvases.  I of course was in denial about how big a canvas I could fit into my Subaru Outback.  They had a couple of 48 x 48 canvases which I enthusiastically dragged to the register.  Then I went to get my car. That is when I faced the music that these canvases were not going to make it home.  I called one of my staff members from my gallery.  She had a truck and came to the rescue. Thankfully it was not snowing or raining at the time because the cab was open.  Happily we got four large canvases home to my house on our little Maine Island.  Then I went to work.  I scribbled, scratched, painted, drew. I used some paint, some markers, some acrylic markers and on and on. When your are painting a structure or a landscape you have some idea where you are going.  For me it was an open road and I was driving blind-folded.  At the end of a few months, The Ties That Bind finally emerged.
