Each year when we spend the week kayaking at Stonington, Maine we try to find one morning to get on the water right before the sun comes up.  As we headed out from our lovely cottage on Spruce Harbor we paddle to Grog, then Bold, then Devil and finally Coots comes into view.  As we approached the sun was hitting the foliage on the granite boulders and turning it all to red. It was stunning.  We snapped a photo and then paddled on.  As we headed back to the house for breakfast, we went around Coots one more time.  But the sun was now fully up and all the foliage no longer had that early pink light and was just as green as it always is.  It was simply a lucky moment that I was able to capture and paint.

This paiinting which has been in Marcia’s private collection, was the featured painting in her show in NYC at the Agora Gallery.
