Damariscotta Harbor 20 x 24 Mixed Media Framed $700

One of the most scenic and charming villages on the coast of Maine sits on a peninsula about an hour and a half from Acadia National Park.  It is a classic little fishing village with 19th century buildings, a harbor and a wonderful art community. I managed to capture the harbor in a photograph around 6pm on a cool autumn day. I could not wait ti get back to my studio to paint it.

What is mixed media?  It is a special process I do for some of my clients and on occasion just because I want to.  After Hunter Editions in Kennebunk.Me scans my original painting - they made a giclee print on canvas in a size I want.  I then take that giclee back into the studio and go to town - repainting the giclee. I add more acrylic paint to the hightlights, lowlights and any place I want to create texture. The now truly mimics the original but instead of spending weeks painting, I can prepare the mixed media in a couple of day.
